1. BAPCo does not run MobileMark tests; it only lists scores reported by independent testers.
2. BAPCo does not warrant the validity of any reported test score. BAPCo only requires that reported results include all Full Disclosure Report (FDR) data.
3. MobileMark scores are for comparison purposes only, not to
estimate a system's battery life or performance under any conditions
outside of the specific
test settings.
4. Never consider any MobileMark score without all accompanying FDR data.
BAPCo's website reports results from tests conducted by independent industry participants, not by BAPCo. BAPCo does not review or validate test reports except to require the tester to provide all required information fields for the FDR format. All BAPCo benchmark test programs are publicly available at inexpensive prices. Any person who wishes to conduct a test, or to verify or report a benchmark score, can purchase and run the MobileMark test independently. Readers of MobileMark scores should take into account the identity of the party reporting the score, as identified in the first field of the FDR.
FDRs also include other information essential to interpreting the MobileMark scores, including variations in the system being tested, settings and scenarios under which the test was conducted, and critically, a "performance" qualification, which is a summary proxy for the degree of work being performed by the tested system. BAPCo does not authorize presentation of any MobileMark score without all FDR fields. Scores presented with any of the FDR information missing are susceptible to misuse and misinterpretation.
The function of the MobileMark benchmark program is to allow comparison between different systems or hardware configurations by having them perform an identical workload under specified settings. This should not be confused with predicting how any system will perform with the particular workload, settings and configurations assigned by any real world user. Participants in BAPCo's collaborative design process intended the MobileMark workload to fairly and realistically compare systems by standardizing a simulated balance of real-world applications which are popular with business users. The program also provides different modules which more closely approximate different types of user-assigned workloads. It is impossible, however, for any such test to predict the actual battery life that any particular user will experience with his or her own workload and settings. MobileMark scores are based on a specific scenario which remains the same from test to test; but actual battery life depends on how each user configures and uses a given system, which no standardized test can anticipate.
