Software Microsoft® Internet Explorer (required to run the Wireless 2005 workload)
Hard drive free space 3.0 GB available prior to installation

Software Coexistence

Because of the complex nature of benchmarks like MobileMark 2005 that install and interface with several applications, there are some important software compatibility issues of which you need to be aware.

Other BAPCo benchmark products
MobileMark 2005 cannot be installed on a computer that has MobileMark 2002 or any versions of SYSmark or WebMark installed. Before installing MobileMark 2005, you must remove any other BAPCo benchmark software.

Applications
Upon installation, MobileMark 2005 will install customized versions of these applications on your system: If you have any versions of these applications installed, they must be removed prior to installing MobileMark 2005.

MobileMark 2005 is not compatible with any virus scanning software. Virus scanning software should be uninstalled prior to installing MobileMark 2005.

Special Instructions for Non-English Operating Systems

MobileMark 2005 can easily be run on an operating system designed to support a non-English language. However, some extra steps need to be taken before installing MobileMark 2005. If you have already installed the benchmark, you should uninstall it before following these steps.

Of course, the Control Panel and dialog text on a non-English OS will be a localized version of the text provided here. It is assumed the user can recognize the translated text well enough to follow these steps.

To prepare your system, and before installing MobileMark 2005, follow these steps:
  1. Open Control Panel > Regional and Language Options

  2. Choose US English standards and formats:
    • Click the Regional Options tab
    • Under Standards and formats, choose English (United States) (screenshot)

  3. Choose your local language as the default for non-Unicode programs:
    • Click the Advanced tab
    • Under Language for non-Unicode programs, choose the language that matches the operating system you are using—do not choose English (United States)

  4. Choose US English for text input:
    • Click the Languages tab
    • Under Text services and input languages, click the Details button
    • In the Text Services and Input Languages window, click the Settings tab
    • Under Installed services, ensure that only English (United States) is listed, with the US keyboard (screenshot)
    • If English (United States) is not listed as in the screenshot, click Add to add it
    • If other keyboards are listed, remove each keyboard by highlighting it and clicking Remove
    • If you receive a warning about removing the default input language, dismiss the message and keep in mind that you will need to reboot the system after finishing these steps
    • Under Default input language, choose English (United States) - US
    • Click OK to close the Text Services and Input Languages window

  5. Click OK to close the Regional and Language Options window

  6. Restart the system if you have changed the default input language

Now you're ready to install the benchmark.
