MobileMark doesn't allow installation to other than the Windows "Program Files" folder

MobileMark always installs to the folder that is registered as the system's Program Files folder (which is usually, but not always C:\Program Files). The only exception is the InterActual Player application, which will always install to "C:\Program Files" even if the system's program files are kept elsewhere.

Workaround: If you want to install MobileMark to another folder, you must make that folder the system's Program Files folder and then install MobileMark. Doing this is not recommended or supported by BAPCo. Furthermore, even in this situation the InterActual Player will continue to install to "C:\Program Files".

MobileMark always installs InterActual Player to "C:\Program Files"

The InterActual Player application installs to the "C:\Program Files" folder, even if the system's program files are not kept in that folder, as is the case on some non-English editions of Windows. This is the design of the InterActual Player application.

MobileMark icons were not installed to the Start Menu and/or Desktop

If you are using a non-English language version of Windows, this problem is most likely caused by an improper Control Panel setting.

Solution: Uninstall MobileMark, then open Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Advanced. Under Language for non-Unicode programs, choose the language that matches the OS that you're running (for French OS, choose French here). Reinstall the benchmark and the icons should appear properly.

Uninstalling MobileMark doesn't seem to uninstall related applications

Immediately after MobileMark is uninstalled (Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs), the applications installed by the benchmark still appear in the list of currently installed programs.

Explanation: The applications have been uninstalled, but the installed programs list has not been updated. Close the Add or Remove Programs window and open it again. The applications should no longer appear in the list.

Uninstallation halts prematurely with an error message

When uninstalling MobileMark, some applications uninstallers may produce prompts that require the user's confirmation ("Yes", "OK", "Finish"). If these prompts are not dismissed in the order they appear, the uninstaller could produce an error message and halt.

Solution: During uninstallation, click "Yes", "OK", or "Finish" as appropriate to dismiss the prompts in the order that they appear on the screen. (During uninstallation, don't bring any windows from the background to the foreground, just dismiss the windows in the order they appear.)

Workaround: If uninstallation crashes because the prompts were not dismissed in order, simply repeat the uninstallation, dismissing the prompts in order, and the uninstallation should complete without an error.

MobileMark tests fail when other programs/utilities are running

If any programs are left running when starting a test, MobileMark may fail to run successfully. Also, programs that run automatically when Windows starts up, such as tutorials, training videos or non-essential utilities, can cause test failures if left running.

Workaround: Close any open applications or utilities before starting a test. You may wish to prevent any programs from running when Windows starts up by uninstalling any such programs.

MobileMark tests do not run correctly after a test failure

Solution: If a failure occurs during testing, reboot the system and allow MobileMark to analyze the test results and report the test failure. Only after rebooting should you start another test.

MobileMark tests fail with message: "Cannot add ResultsAnalyzer to Startup group"

Reinstall the benchmark and the benchmark should run properly.

Workaround: Uninstall all virus scanning software before beginning a test.

Productivity workload test fails when Office 2002 asks for user registration

During a productivity workload test, Office 2002 asks for a user name and initials. The test fails because of the appearance of the unexpected dialog.

Workaround: Click OK. Outlook will open and the workload will stop running. If this continues for a couple of minutes, reboot the machine and restart the test. The problem should not reappear.

Productivity workload test fails and reports that Outlook cannot locate a place to send and receive mail

During testing with the productivity workload, a dialog appears saying Outlook cannot locate a place to send and receive mail. The test fails because of the appearance of the unexpected dialog.

Workaround: Installation did not properly install Outlook. This could be caused by a prior Office installation. You should install MobileMark to a clean drive (one that has never had Office installed on it). It may also be possible to manually install the e-mail server and PST files to overcome this problem.
