Installation
SYSmark 2004 is distributed on a DVD ROM that contains everything you need to quickly install and run the benchmark suite. Please READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY.Before you install the benchmark, please read the System Requirements and the Software Compatibility Notes. Also check www.bapco.com for the latest product updates, downloads and information. Prior to installation of this or any new software, you should always do a full backup of your system.
SYSmark 2004 installer can be installed in the Normal mode or, the Silent mode which requires no user interaction during install time. In the Silent mode, all the default options are selected by the installer. The user can also preset the responses in the response file - setup.iss. This will require copying the whole DVD to your hard disk and making changes on this file.
Normal mode
- On Windows 2000 systems, ensure that DirectX 8.1 or newer is installed.
- Insert your SYSmark 2004 DVD into your DVD-ROM drive. The installation program should start automatically. If it does not start, use Windows Explorer to locate and double-click on setup.exe
- Click "Next" at the Welcome screen.
- Select "I ACCEPT" at the license agreement.
- Enter your user name and company name at the "Customer Information" screen and click "Next".
- View the information on the destination directory and Internet Explorer proxy settings and click "Next".
- Click "Next" at the "Select Program Folder" screen.
- On Windows 2000 systems you will see an Information screen. Click "Next" after viewing the information.
- If you have any programs that are started automatically from the registry, you will be asked if the SYSmark 2004 installer can move these program shortcuts to an alternate location. They will be restored upon un-installation. It is recommended to click "Yes".
- If you have any program shortcuts in the startup folder, you will be asked if the SYSmark 2004 installer can move these shortcuts to an alternate folder. It is recommended to select "Yes".
- SYSmark 2004 installation will now begin. At the end of the installation, please reboot the system as prompted.
- During installation on Windows 2000, the following error message may appear: "A read only file C:\WINNT\system32\msvcp60.dll was found..." Click the "Yes" button to dismiss the message. SYSmark may later report that Adobe Acrobat Distiller failed to install. It is safe to ignore this error message.
- At the end of installation on a Windows 2000, SYSmark may report that Adobe Acrobat Distiller failed to install. There may be another pop-up error message indicating that a read-only file was found. Look for the pop-up error message about the read-only file. It may be under the SYSmark installer window. It is important to FIRST dismiss the read-only error message by clicking "Yes". THEN it is safe to ignore the Distiller error message and click "Next". The benchmark should continue to install correctly.
Silent mode
If starting the setup from the same directory as the Setup.exe, Setup.exe –s should start the install. If starting from a different location, the path of the response file has to be explicitly specified. Setup.exe -s -f1<path\Response File>
Example: Setup.exe –s
–f1c:\sm2004src\setup.iss
Uninstallation
- Reboot your system just prior to uninstallation, to ensure benchmark related files are not in use.
- Insert the SYSmark 2004 DVD into your DVD-ROM drive.
- The DVD will automatically prompt to uninstall the benchmark.
- If DVD autorun has been disabled, start the uninstallation process by going to the Control Panel and clicking on “Add/Remove Programs”.
- Select SYSmark 2004 and click on “Change/Remove”.
- Choose the default choices when prompted. You may be asked to reboot the system, to complete uninstallation.
